MORATUWA, SRI LANKA — The Department of Integrated Design at the University of Moratuwa has officially announced its upcoming Integrated Design Research (IDR) International Conference for 2026. Scheduled to take place from October 22nd to 24th, 2026, the conference invites scholars, practitioners, and industry professionals to explore the evolving landscape of design.
As detailed in the “Integrated-Design-Research-Conference.png” announcement, this year’s compelling theme is “Creative Wave: Imagination, Adaptation, and Change.” The conference aims to foster critical inquiry and collaboration across a variety of sub-themes, including:

The IDR platform, guided by Head of Department Ms. Ruwandika Senanayake alongside Event Chairpersons Dr. Sumanthri Samarawickrama and Ms. Chathurangi De Silva, seeks to elevate design beyond a purely creative act. It positions design as a rigorous field of knowledge and innovation capable of driving societal contribution and advancing design discourse throughout Asia.
Researchers, educators, and postgraduate students are encouraged to contribute to this growing body of knowledge. The official Call for Submissions is currently open for full papers, short papers, and executive summaries of projects, with a strict deadline of August 5th, 2026.
